War Games…..

War Games

Several weeks ago I posted some candid shots taken at the Classic Flyers Airshow. Whilst at this event I unexpectedly stumbled upon The Military Reenactment Society of New Zealand. I suppose in truth I didn’t really stubble upon them as they were patrolling the airshow like it was at risk of enemy invasion……anyway several things really caught my attention, the  enthusiasm and professionalism of the reenactors was quite evident, as was the quality and quantity of equipment they had with them, they genuinely did look like troops and not just men reliving their childhoods by playing war games…… I thought at the time it may make a decent post for this site and after a few weeks of reflection I’ve decided to put them on.

The shots were taken with the obvious assistance of MRS for which I am most grateful. All images are taken with the Leica M9 – 50mm Jupiter 3 f/1.5 and 75mm Voigtlander Heliar f/1.8, these really are two of my favorite lenses on the M9 at the moment, obviously that may alter when the 50 Lux arrives…

Some of the images I’ve processed in what I would call my style, others I have attempted to “age” in an effort to capture a more authentic feel, if thats possible…..I’d be interested to see what you think.

Awesome shots, stumbled across them, how lucky was that. I love the defocus of these lenses, very dreamy, esp “Uncle Sam’s Favorite” the Jupiter puts a real glow on the foreground. Sensational work.

Cheers Matt. Yes, the Jupiter 3 really is a little special. It’s charachteristics were particularly suited the subject matter and processing. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment. All the best, Jason.

  • Wow great pictures from “war Games” really love it, think jupiter 3 50mm is great lens, the render almost looks like with 50mm Rigid Summicon
